Understand Your Data Usage

  •  Watch out for roaming charges

    Purchase Data Roaming Add-On for postpaid subscribers and remember to constantly check the add-on allowance.

  • Third Party Subscription

    Third party services, downloadable contents and many more are chargeable upon agreement to subscribe. Unsubscribe to avoid your credit being deducted.

  • Surf Wisely

    Minimise data usage by choosing mobile-friendly sites that do not include animated ads or large images. Please note that apps/software update may require a heavy data volume.

  • Video Streaming

    Be alert of the data size when downloading videos from any social media channels.

  •  Set email to manual downloads

    Sync your accounts to receive email in batches or set it to manual to avoid automatic downloads of images and attachments.

  • Block pop-ups and banner ads

    Unlike Android devices, Safari does not allow you to block pop-ups and turn off image loading.

  • Running background applications

    Switch on location based apps (e.g. maps or location-based photos) and push notifications when needed only.

  • Avoid excessive data charges

    Calculate how much data you might typically use in a month and choose the right plan that best suit your needs.

  • Know your smartphone

    High Definition(HD) videos takes up more data! Please keep in mind when  internet connection is faster, thing will download faster and there is a tendency to use more data.

Set Data Alerts and Limits

Go to settings > Cellular = Your Data Usage on each apps
Practice monitoring your usage by setting a cap on each month by selecting Reset Statistics

Auto Update Apps Over Wi-Fi Only

Go to settings > Cellular and Remove apps you don't need
You should set updates via Wi-Fi for app updates. This is important because app updates can be huge!

Use Wi-Fi Wherever Possible

Go to settings > Wi-Fi > Switch On
Whenever you’re at home or at the office, switch to Wi-Fi in your Setting Menu.

Do Not Root or Jailbreak Your Phone

Malware or virus can use up your data without your knowledge and other related unpleasant activities. Make sure you have the latest software updates.

Set Data Alerts and Limits

Go to settings > Data Usage > Control Data limit by date and data usage
Android has a more specific way to control your data usage.

Restrict Background Data

Go to settings > Data Usage > Choose selected App
Disable background data on mobile network. Non-mobile networks will be used if available.
