DST “Ihsan Kasih” Treats Orphans

Jerudong (08/04/2015) – As part of DST’s “Ihsan Kasih” community program, over 70 orphans accompanied by their parents and guardians from the Belait District between the ages of 4 and 16 were treated to a fun-filled day which started with a tour to the “ASEAN’s Largest Dino Expo” exhibition in Bridex Hall, Jerudong and ended with a fun-filled day at the Jerudong Park Plaground.

The outing began with a welcoming reception at Belait Town by DST’s “Ihsan Kasih” volunteers where the children accompanied by their guardians were provided bus shuttle return transportation to the events in Jerudong.  The first destination was the “ASEAN’s Largest Dino Expo” held in Bridex Hall where the orphans and their guardians were greeted by the rest of the DST “Ihsan Kasih” volunteers.

Following the tour at the exhibiton in Bridex, the children were then escorted  to the Jerudong Park playground where DST treated them to lunch. After lunch, the children had an exclusive entry into the park to enjoy the theme park games such as Bumper Cars, Laser Tag, Laser Maze, Carousel and other rides.

According to Elixsurian Hj Busu, Manager of Group Corporate Communications on the Ihsan Kasih initiative with Orphans, “DST have been proactive in arranging activities for orphans from fun futsal tournaments in  Brunei-Muara district, educational trips to places like the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) in Seria, Belait District, a movie outing to the Cinema and now, during the school holidays, an opportunity to visit the once in a lifetime Dino Expo and a chance to play at our own local themepark, Jerudong Park.”

He also adds, “Many of the orphans from the Belait district have not had much opportunity to visit the attractions here in Brunei-Muara especially Jerudong Park, so we are glad that DST can give them this opportunity and share the enjoyable experience with the children and get to know them better.”

The final activity for the children was a visit to the Waterpark Playground. The visit ended with DST providing DST “Ihsan Kasih” goodies to the children before their departure back to Belait.

“Ihsan Kasih” is DST’s community program aimed to gather DSTians for voluntary work and to do beautiful things out of love, to help the less fortunate Bruneian, orphans and special needs community.
